HY-STANDARD was established by Charles R. Hyatt in Cardiff, South Wales in 2005.

Charles is a Chartered Construction Project Manager and holds a Masters of Science (MSc) in Building Conservation, from the Welsh School of Architecture, specialising in Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage.

Charles has undertaken additional research pertaining to the built environment through an analysis of both the Brutalist architectural design concept and the study of concrete from both a technical design standpoint and as a viable sustainable construction material as part of the wider circular economy. 

In addition to an MSc in Building Conservation, and in line with his academic and professional interests pertaining to Politics and Law ,Charles has also read Politics at University in which he holds a BA (Hons). Benefiting from being  multilingual, Charles has also studied Language and Communication at degree level.

Charles is currently completing his PhD in Law at Prifysgol Aberystwyth University Law School   Link-> 

 

Charles is a member of The Royal Historical Society (RHS) The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB),The Concrete Society, The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), The Learned Society of Wales, The Ecclesiastical Law Society, Cardiff and District Law Society, the Aberystwyth University Law Society and the Royal Statistical Society (RSS). 

Before establishing HY-STANDARD, utilising his degree in Politics and language skills, Charles worked for the European Development Fund (EDF) where he was involved with the Objective 1, 2 and 3 funding programs focused on business infrastructure in Wales. Following his work in the EDF Charles advanced to the Welsh Government's finance department, dealing with different aspects of external and internal government funding and accounting. Charles' final role in Government was in the Environment Department where he was involved with regulatory and legislative analysis concerning different elements of government oversight. 

Charles' academic qualifications combined with his professional background provide him with the technical design knowledge, financial management expertise, as well as the regulatory and legislative understanding required to operate a proficient Construction Management and Consultancy practice in the UK's Modern and Heritage built environment sectors.
